Bio: Chetan (Che) grew up in Kathmandu, Nepal and was always interested in scientific research at the intersection of medicine and engineering. He moved to the US for his undergrad and studied Physics at Oberlin College from 2010-2014, graduating with high honors. He then worked as a research assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Matthew Merrins for two years at UW-Madison, where he fell in love with microscopy. He moved to Scotland briefly, and then to University of Cambridge in England to complete his PhD in Biotechnology, building custom-microscopes to study neurodegeneration. There he worked in the joint labs of Prof. Clemens Kaminski and Prof. Gabriele Kaminski-Schierle. He moved back to the US for his postdoc at the University of Washington in Prof. Joshua Vaughan’s group in Chemistry, building lightsheet microscopes to study the kidney.

His current interests include developing 3D approaches to study the kidney, and to modernize renal pathology with 3D imaging and computational approaches. Outside of work, he loves to hike and travel, and spend time with his wife and two little kids.
